After three decades of dedicated refinement, LU Guanyu (artistic name Muran Gong) is poised to launch his inaugural overseas tour exhibition, “Beyond Illusion,” presenting his pioneering “Fantasy-Color Freehand” artistic system. This milestone event marks both a career summation for the artist and a concentrated showcase of the contemporary translation of Eastern aesthetics.
The tour will feature over a hundred core works from the artist’s decades-long practice, all certified by national copyright authorities. This exhibition represents more than a collection of paintings; it is a comprehensive unveiling of Muran Gong’s artistic philosophy and creative methodology.

In persistent inquiry into the “soul of Chinese painting,” he was guided by the master’s principle of “transcendent imagination and wondrous attainment,” which reveals the “Heaven-Earth-Human” cosmology and Yin-Yang philosophy underlying Chinese landscape art. This forms the bedrock of Muran Gong’s exploration. His work transcends mere depiction, striving instead to construct a spiritual field where subject and object merge and energy flows. The resplendent yet serene ink and color in his paintings are the manifestations of this unique philosophical language—torrential yet celestial.
